What is SeaWorld?

SeaWorld is a chain of marine mammal parks in the United States. There are SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Diego, and San Antonio. SeaWorld parks hold sea lions, dolphins, and orca whales captive, where the animals are trained to perform in front of live audiences. SeaWorld is most famously known for the Shamu shows, or performances featuring orca whales who perform tricks and splash the audience. SeaWorld parks in the United States currently hold 23 total orca whales in captivity. From the outside, it looks like the SeaWorld facility is a warm, safe environment for orcas, but SeaWorld is responsible for the death of at least 44 orca whales and death of three humans.
